FUR AND CURIOSITY
These powerful mammals roam the rugged wilderness of Jasper National Park, thriving in its diverse habitats of forests, meadows, and alpine terrain. Grizzlies are both awe-inspiring and a reminder of the wild, untamed nature of the region. Conservation efforts in Jasper continue to protect these bears and their environment.

The power of a grizzly bear is immense and commands deep respect. Weighing up to 600 pounds or more, they have the strength to topple small trees and run up to 55 kilometres an hour. Its muscular build and massive forelimbs are designed for digging, climbing, and delivering powerful swipes that can break bones with a single blow. This combination of speed, strength, and agility makes the grizzly bear one of the most formidable predators in North America.

I think they are beautiful animals though, and watching them roam around face down in the flowers or chomping on dandelions makes their power seem very deceiving. One of my favourite places to watch Grizzlies is in Jasper National Park. I had the joy of watching this big boy stroll through some old forest fire burn and picking apart logs. They generally pay no real attention to outsiders but you have to be careful to not let their curiosity go without a warning either.
